Why would one construct a living wall?
A living wall offers numerous benefits at an ecological, economic and societal level. A living wall helps to purify the air, reduce the ambient temperature and promotes biodiversity in the environment.
So what kind of company are we?
Muro+Vivo is an eco-conscious company that creates sustainable structural building units (aka living wall blocks) for building living-walls that are (artfully) designed by observing nature's own ecosystem evolution.
And what is a living wall block?
A structural building unit (gBLOCK)*
formed with dimensions that allow plants to grow from any structure created with the gBLOCKs. The gBLOCKs are suitable for improving the aesthetic value and increasing the energy efficiency of a structure built therefrom. They reduce indoor and outdoor temperatures with shade and other methods of cooling, including evapotranspiration, thus reducing the contribution of the structure to any "urban heat island effect". The plants also lead to improved air quality through a process called photosynthesis, which converts carbon dioxide and light into oxygen and glucose.
